Zengo Daily ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our Chrome extension, available on the Chrome Web Store.

Data Stored Locally

Zengo Daily stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API:

Language Preference: Your selected language (English, Polish, Japanese, Russian, or German)
Theme Preference: Your chosen theme (light or dark mode)
Read Counter: Number of Zengo entries you've viewed
Donation Reminder Status: Whether you've seen or dismissed donation messages
Statistics Data New in v1.3.0: Your discovery progress and category exploration metrics

Where data is stored: All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This means the data never leaves your computer and is not synced to any cloud service.

Data We DO NOT Collect

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Browsing history or activity
Location data or IP address
Device information beyond what Chrome provides
Analytics or tracking data
Cookies or tracking pixels

Data transmission: We do NOT send any data to external servers. All processing happens locally on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data stored by Zengo Daily is used solely for:

Personalization: Displaying content in your preferred language and theme
Progress Tracking: Remembering how many Zengo you've read
User Experience: Managing donation reminder frequency
Discovery Tracking New in v1.3.0: Showing your exploration progress across 581 entries and thematic categories

3. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This means:

Database Content: The extension includes 581 Japanese wisdom entries (database version 3.0.0) stored locally in db_merged_1_581.json. This database is part of the extension package and contains no personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

Zengo Daily includes links to external services for support and donations:

Ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/elis60522): For voluntary donations
Stripe: For Fast Tip payment processing (optional feature)

Important: These services are accessed only when you explicitly click on donation links. We have no control over the privacy practices of these third-party services. Please review their respective privacy policies.

5. Permissions

Required Permissions

Zengo Daily requests the following Chrome permission:

storage: To save your preferences (language, theme, read counter, statistics) locally on your device

Permissions We DO NOT Request

We do not request any other permissions such as:

❌ tabs - We don't monitor your browsing
❌ history - We don't access browsing history
❌ cookies - We don't use cookies
❌ webRequest - We don't intercept network requests
❌ geolocation - We don't access your location

6. Data Retention

Your locally stored data persists until you:

Uninstall the Zengo Daily extension
Clear your browser's local storage
Manually delete extension data from Chrome settings

7. Database Changes in Version 1.3.0

Database Expansion: Version 1.3.0 upgrades the wisdom database to version 3.0.0 with 581 total entries (52% expansion). This includes:

381 entries from established db2.8 collection
200 new entries from db130 expansion
Unified multilingual format (EN/PL/JP/RU/DE)
Machine-assisted translations for new entries

Privacy Impact: All new content is stored locally within the extension package. No personal data is collected. The larger database file (db_merged_1_581.json) is distributed as part of the extension and does not transmit any data externally.

8. Your Rights & Data Control

You can delete all stored data at any time by:

Navigating to chrome://extensions/
Finding "Zengo Daily"
Clicking "Remove" to uninstall the extension

Alternatively, you can clear extension data:

Go to Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Site Settings
Click "View permissions and data stored across sites"
Search for "Zengo Daily" and clear data

9. Children's Privacy

Zengo Daily does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us to have it removed.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
